6 Photojournalists You Need to Know About

With all of the events going on in the world right now, it feels as if information is constantly flowing all around us. As much power as written stories have, some messages are only truly conveyed through visual means: art, photography, film, etc. In this article, we wanted to create a list of some of our favorite photojournalists who you can follow as a way to understand the world right now.

1.Elliot Ross @elliotstudio

Working frequently with The New York Times, Ross’ work tells the stories of people and the spaces they live in, through beautiful photography. His photographs are from all over, and bring beauty to otherwise simplistic parts of life.

2. Muhammed Muheisen @mmuheisen

A two-time Pulitzer prize winner, Muheisen’s work focuses on telling the stories of refugees and those living in third world countries. He depicts the culture and life of those living in these places through his stunning work.

3. Nasuna Stuart-Ulin @nasunaphoto

Stuart-Ulin's work utilizes strong colors and vivid imagery to tell the stories of those who particularly live in Montreal. Her work focuses on the people of the city and the many different lives they lead.

4. Hilary Swift @hlswift

Swift’s work focuses on social and political change within the United States, creating striking images of civilian movements and political figures. She tells both sides of the story, showing the people where change needs to be created and those who are fighting to create it.

5. Paolo Verzone @paoloverzone

Verzone’s work depicts the differences in cultures between different countries, traveling around the world to tell stories. His work particularly highlights what is important to a person’s culture, and covers a wide variety of topics in doing so.

6. Humans of New York @humansofny

The Humans of New York project is unique as the entire focus is telling the story of average people in the city. The project is not just about the photography, but is about learning from the lives of and giving a voice to people who deserve to be heard.
